PINVIN SAYS NO! TO THE MUSHROOM FACTORY

You have until Wednesday 9th February to write an objection to Walsh Mushrooms recent submission of new plans to discharge surface water from the planned attenuation pond under the A44 to the ditch on the other side.  They have found a pipe running under the road which they will try to use, and then expect the water to just go away.

The plans are on the Wychavon Planning website where the web address for the documents is https://plan.wychavon.gov.uk/Planning/Display/20/02906/FUL.  There are two new documents under Documents and the heading Application Plans called “Proposed Drainage Sheet 2 of 2” and “Site Layout”.

There are a number of issues which should be included in your letter of objection:

  • The ownership and the condition of the pipe is unknown.  It has been subject to road roadwork in connection with Pinvin Crossroads and may well have been damaged.
  • The pipe is not adequate to transfer the volume of water both from its size (15cm) and its fall (<1m).
  • The shallow ditch on the south side of the A44 will not take the volume of water proposed.
  • The ditch on the south side of the A44 enters a culvert before turning towards Bow Brook where it meets other drainage flows.
  • The pipe, the ditch and the culvert have to be kept perfectly clear; they have clearly not been in past years
  • Flooding is likely to occur around the crossroads when the drainage system is inadequate or is not clear.
  • Walsh’s have a poor track record looking after drainage from their sites, they were prosecuted for polluting the watercourse next to their packing plant in Evesham.

Please get writing – your voice matters!

The closing date for comments is Wednesday 9th February.
